Dhubri: Assam panchayat and rural development minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, while addressing a poll rally at Nabasudrapara in Gauripur town, said the victory of BJP candidate Ashwani Roy Sarkar from Golokganj is more tha assured.“But still, I have come to campaign for him because I want him to win with over 1,30,000 votes. I know there is a direct fight with AIUDF, and by no means can the party form the govt in Dispur,” Dass said. Urging voters, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, Dass questioned why would they misuse their votes on a losing candidate?
Golokganj, an assembly constituency that shares both international and inter-state borders, holds strategic importance for both security and development, Dass said. He emphasised that NDA would form the next govt as it lives in the hearts of the people.Dass assured that after formation of the govt, 10 lakhs PMAY houses would be added to the existing 40 lakhs, as CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced and that he would bring 10,000 houses for Golokganj.Dass further said PM Narendra Modi and Sarma are both messiahs for the poverty-stricken people, having provided houses, electric connection, LPG, drinking water etc.

The meeting was also addressed by former Gauripur legislator Bonedra Mushahary, BJP candidate Ashwani Roy Sarkar and other BJP leaders.The BJP’s campaign aims to leverage on the recent delimitation of the constituency, which included 10 wards of the Gauripur Municipal Board out of 13 in the No. 6 Golokganj constituency with 21,000 voters. The total number of voters in the LAC is 2,04,365.Other candidates in the fray are Jamsher Talukdar from AIUDF and Kartik Ray from Congress.
