Itanagar: In a push to strengthen community-oriented policing and expand public outreach, a police outpost and community library, the ‘Sangam Centre’, was inaugurated at Dem in Deed Circle of Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi Panyor district on Tuesday, officials said.The integrated facility was formally inaugurated by Keyi Panyor deputy commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta in the presence of senior civil and police officials, local administrative heads and student leaders.Keyi Panyor SP Angad Mehta said the dual-purpose centre was conceived to bring law enforcement closer to residents while fostering a learning environment for remote and scattered settlements.“The outpost will act as a swift first responder during emergencies and ensure efficient law-and-order management,” he said, adding that policing goes beyond routine enforcement and serves as a bridge between the administration and the public.He said the community library will provide a space for self-improvement and constructive engagement, aimed at empowering local students and youth.Officials said the Sangam Centre is the second community library set up by the district police, after a similar unit at Yazali Police Station, reinforcing the police’s long-term focus on youth development, educational access and public-friendly policing.The inaugural event was attended by Deed zilla parishad member Neelam Richo, Lt Col Rajib Chaudhary of the Border Roads Organisation, Yachuli ADC Likha Teji, senior representatives from NEEPCO and delegates from the Keyi Panyor District Students’ Union.
