Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet, chaired by CM Pema Khandu, on Sunday adopted a resolution marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years of continuous service as head of govt.Modi became Gujarat CM on Oct 7, 2001, and served in the post until becoming Prime Minister on May 26, 2014. He is currently serving his third consecutive term as PM.The Cabinet highlighted key policy decisions under Modi’s leadership, including the abrogation of Article 370, the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax and subsequent GST 2.0 reforms, and the replacement of colonial-era criminal laws with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.It said Arunachal Pradesh had been a “proud partner” in the country’s development journey, citing the state’s 100% saturation under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, which covers more than 8.57 lakh beneficiaries. It also noted that 55,000 pucca houses had been registered in women’s names.The state became the first in the northeast to achieve 100% coverage under the Jal Jeevan Mission, with 2.28 lakh household tap connections, the cabinet said. More than 2.26 lakh families have also received health insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh each.Under PM-KISAN, over 1.14 lakh farmers have received Rs 150 crore directly, while nearly one lakh women have joined self-help groups, resulting in the creation of more than 16,000 “Lakhpati Didis”.The cabinet also cited major infrastructure projects, including the Sela and Nechiphu tunnels, Donyi Polo and Tezu airports, and roads sanctioned under the Vibrant Villages Programme for border areas.In the power sector, initial units of the 2,000MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project have been commissioned, while investments of over Rs 52,000 crore have been approved for five other hydropower projects.It also acknowledged central support for indigenous culture, including GI tags for 20 local products, digitisation of rare manuscripts under the Gyan Bharatam Mission and funding through the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme.Reaffirming its commitment to the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, the Cabinet expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and pledged to work towards a secure, prosperous and self-reliant India.
