Hyderabad: Works by leading modern and contemporary Indian artists, including SH Raza, Akbar Padamsee, Krishen Khanna, Himmat Shah, Thota Vaikuntam and Seema Kohli, are being showcased at ‘Paropakar 2026’, a fundraising art exhibition aimed at supporting the education of children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through the non-profit institution Nachiketa Tapovan.The exhibition, which opened on Aug 15 and will remain open to visitors on Aug 16 at Spirit Connect, Jubilee Hills, is curated by Sushma Thota, and the event also features artist-approved prints, serigraphs, etchings, ceramics and sculptures. The artworks are available across a wide price range, with smaller serigraphs starting at around ₹25,000 and select works, including sculptures, priced at up to ₹25 lakh.

According to the organisers, proceeds from the exhibition will support a new facility at Nachiketa Tapovan’s ashram in Kodgal, Jadcherla, which is planned to include science and computer laboratories, a library and vocational training facilities. The event has been organised to raise funds for the institution that has been providing free education to children for over two decades.“Around 650 students are currently enrolled across its campuses, with nearly 90% being first-generation learners. Many come from families of daily-wage workers,” said Sushma Thota. “The focus is on the physical, intellectual and emotional development of students,” she added.According to the organisers, apart from following the state syllabus, the institute adopts a value-based approach inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and Sarada Devi. Class sizes are generally limited to 25 to 30 students, enabling teachers to provide more individual attention.Miheeka Daggubati, a partner in the exhibition, said many students have had limited exposure to formal learning and that the quality of individual attention and learning opportunities in govt schools can vary.
