Bathinda: Punjab industry and commerce minister Sanjeev Arora on Thursday said the state could emerge as a major petrochemical hub, while citing fresh and cumulative investment by HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd (HMEL) in Bathinda.During a visit to HMEL’s Guru Gobind Singh Refinery, Arora said the company’s cumulative investment in Punjab had touched around Rs 60,000 crore, including a recently announced Rs 2,600-crore fine chemicals project.He also toured the refinery’s automatic product storage warehouse, which officials described as Asia’s largest, with capacity to store 1.5 lakh tonnes of polymer.Arora said the refinery could anchor growth of downstream and ancillary industries in Punjab.MSID:: 130145150 413 |
