Wardha: A woman’s death under suspicious circumstances at Helodi-Ganeshpur in Wardha district has led police to register a case against eight people, including her husband, in connection with alleged dowry harassment and cruelty. Six of the accused have been arrested, while further investigation is under way.According to the complaint, Roshni married Vinod Mohite, who serves in the Army, on March 27, 2024. Her family alleged that within a few months of the marriage, she was subjected to continuous harassment, physical assault and mental torture by her husband and his family over dowry demands. The victim’s relatives further alleged that Roshni was forced to undergo an abortion against her wishes.Roshni was found hanging at her residence last week. However, her family alleged that the injuries found on her body raised serious doubts about the circumstances of her death. They claimed that marks resembling belt injuries were visible on her back and scratch injuries were found on her hands, alleging that she was assaulted before being killed. They alleged that the incident was made to appear as suicide.“My daughter should get justice and those responsible for the atrocities should be given strict punishment,” Roshni’s mother, Gangabai Jadhav, said.Roshni’s father, Raju Jadhav, alleged that his daughter lost her life because of continuous harassment over dowry. Roshni’s other relatives also demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those found guilty.
