Bandipora, Aug 27 : An Army soldier drowned in the Kishanganga River near Tarbal village in the Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Ashiq Hussain Khan, a resident of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Following the incident, a rescue operation was launched, during which the soldier’s body was retrieved from the river. The body was later shifted to Dawar Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the drowning. (KNS)
