Thiruvananthapuram: Police on Tuesday arrested a 23-year-old youth for barging into a house armed with a sword and stealing valuables at Kadinamkulam. The accused, identified as Jobin George, of Menamkulam, was arrested by Kadinamkulam police. George was arrested near Chackai ITI.According to police, the incident occurred around 8pm on Saturday night when the assailant forcefully entered the house, wielding a sword and threatening a youth in the family. The family members were reportedly terrified as the accused brandished the weapon and demanded valuables. Police identified two more people involved in the case, and a probe has begun to trace them. The intruder is believed to have looted cash and other valuables before fleeing the scene. However, acting swiftly on the complaint, police managed to trace and apprehend the suspect within a short span of time. Police sources said the accused has a criminal background and is suspected of being involved in similar offences in the area. The arrest was made following a detailed probe, including the examination of evidence and possible eyewitness accounts. Police registered a case under relevant sections for armed robbery and house trespass. He was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. Further investigation is under way.
