Araria: District Industries Centre (DIC) general manager Anil Kumar Mandal was arrested by the state vigilance bureau on Saturday after he was allegedly caught with Rs 50,000, part of a bribe he had demanded from a machine dealer for facilitating a supply order.According to vigilance officials, Mandal had allegedly demanded Rs 85,000 from Mohd Quamare Alam, a machine dealer, as commission for placing an order for the supply of machines. Alam later lodged a complaint with the state vigilance bureau, alleging that the DIC GM had sought the money in connection with the supply order.The complaint was verified by the bureau and found to have prima facie merit. Following this, a case was registered against Mandal on Aug 7, 2026, under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Vigilance DSP Satish Chandra Madhav said.Acting on the complaint, a vigilance team led by DSP Satish Chandra Madhav, along with inspector Ranjan Kumar and others conducted a raid at Mandal’s residence in Araria on Saturday afternoon.During the raid, the team allegedly recovered Rs 50,000 in bribe money from Mandal’s possession. He was subsequently taken to Patna for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
