The iPhone foldable model is tipped to launch in the bookstyle version first but Apple could be planning for another variant.

Apple could have two different versions of iPhone Fold launching

iPhone Fold is launching later this year and that seems like a done deal, but Apple has more than one card up its foldable sleeves. New reports suggest the company could also have a Fold device that could rival the Galaxy Z Flip and the Moto Razr lineup in the market. The company has stayed far away from the foldable race but just like its AI impetus, the entry in this segment is hard to avoid anymore.

Which is why there are some big bets being placed on the iPhone Fold model that could be part of a premium lineup later this September. The report from Bloomberg claims Apple is not looking to wait anymore which is why it is planning for another foldable device, which could be in the clamshell style.

Not One But Two Apple Foldables?

This is not the first time we are hearing rumours about the clamshell version of iPhone Fold but the report also suggests Apple is not completely sold on the model. The brand could ideally look at the demand and response it gets with the first-gen iPhone Fold model and if that works then consider bringing other versions in the foldable lineup.

Having said that, the overall market sentiment suggests the flip versions haven’t really done as well as the bookstyle version, so the company might have to rethink its strategy once the first product rolls out.

Speaking of which, the iPhone Fold could feature a book-style design and carry a 7.8-inch main inner and a 5.3-inch cover display, as pointed out by Jeff Pu, analyst. The device could have a flatter body but 4.5mm thick when it is unfolded. The design of the iPhone Fold is likely to be a mix of titanium and aluminium like the iPhone Air model.

Apple will power its foldable with the A20 Pro chipset that will be paired with the N2 neural engine and 12GB RAM all across the 18 series models for AI processing and Siri.  The company is also tipped to be using the Apple C2 modem for faster data speeds and connectivity.
