Chennai: Speaker M Appavu on Friday appreciated chief minister M K Stalin for `standing firm’ on a multiple issues in the assembly over the past five years, particularly when governor R N Ravi chose not read the customary Governor’s address in full.Delivering his concluding address in the assembly, Appavu recalled a couple of incidents when Stalin `ensured the state govt did not lose its rights.’ Appavu said Stalin was firm in ensuring that only the Governor’s address prepared by the state govt was taken into the assembly records, despite the Governor refusing to read the address in full. Appavu said Stalin also ensured that he got a favourable judgement in the Supreme Court when the governor refused to give assent to the bills passed by the Assembly.Lauding MLAs for their conduct in the assembly, Appavu said HR and CE minister P K Sekarbabu was the most active of all the ministers by responding to 76 questions. Similarly, PMK floor leader G K Mani was the MLA who raised the highest of 66,974 questions in the last five years.
