Mumbai: Apollo Hospitals has launched a dedicated Paediatric Rehabilitation Centre at its Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai facility, aiming to expand access to specialised rehabilitation services for children with developmental, neurological and post-surgical recovery needs.

The centre offers FDA-approved rehabilitation services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and aqua therapy, designed specifically for children requiring structured therapeutic support.

Paediatric rehabilitation remains a specialised clinical discipline with limited availability across India. Unlike adult rehabilitation, it requires therapy environments, equipment and clinical protocols tailored to children’s developmental stages. The newly launched centre seeks to bridge this gap by offering a physician-led programme focused on early intervention and multidisciplinary care.

The facility brings together a team of paediatric rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and psychologists who work collaboratively to identify developmental delays and initiate timely interventions. According to the hospital, structured early rehabilitation plays a critical role in improving long-term developmental outcomes for children.

Aqua therapy has also been integrated into the programme to support mobility and recovery for children with neuromuscular and orthopaedic conditions in a controlled and supervised environment.

The centre’s care model incorporates continuous clinical oversight, coordinated treatment planning and personalised therapy pathways. Family counselling and caregiver training are also included to help parents actively support their child’s rehabilitation and progress.

Speaking on the launch, Arunesh Punetha, Regional CEO – Western Region, Apollo Hospitals, said, “This centre reflects our commitment to delivering specialised care where it is needed most. We have brought together advanced infrastructure, FDA-approved services, and a dedicated multidisciplinary team with one goal: to improve outcomes and quality of life for children and their families.”

Emphasising the importance of early intervention in paediatric care, Dr Kiran Shingote, COO, Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, said, “Early intervention can make a transformative difference in a child’s development. Our physician-led model ensures personalised care pathways and close clinical supervision.”

He added that the child-friendly environment and paediatric-calibrated equipment aim to make therapy both effective and reassuring for young patients.

Highlighting the clinical approach Dr Nitin Menon, Consultant Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai noted that paediatric rehabilitation requires specialised expertise and collaborative care models.

“We have built a programme that is collaborative, evidence-based and deeply attentive to family involvement. Every intervention is designed to support each child’s functional independence and long-term well-being,” he said.
