New Delhi: Corporate hospital chain Apollo Hospitals has announced the extension of its OPD services to all seven days of the week, under its first-of-its-kind initiative, ‘Always Open. Always Here.’
The announcement extends access to outpatient consultations, diagnostics, preventive health check-ups, follow-up consultations and scheduled procedures to Sundays as well.
Apollo said the initiative is designed to support working professionals managing multiple responsibilities by giving them greater flexibility to consult doctors, undergo health check-ups and access follow-up care.
“For more than four decades, Apollo has believed that healthcare is not only about treating illness, but about preventing disease and we are now extending the same commitment to routine and preventive care across all seven days of the week,” said Dr Prathap C. Reddy, Founder and Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group.
Suneeta Reddy, MD, Apollo Hospitals, said the initiative was first tested as a three-month pilot and will now be implemented across the group, subject to hospital-specific schedules and service readiness.
She added that the hospital chain has undertaken the necessary restructuring to operate under the extended schedule and will leverage its large workforce and technology to manage the expected increase in patient volumes while maintaining work flexibility for staff.
Apollo, which established its first hospital in Chennai in 1983, now operates 76 hospitals with over 10,400 beds across India, alongside a network of 7000 brick-and-mortar pharmacy stores, and several retail and digital healthcare ventures.
In 2022, it became the first hospital company to enter the Nifty 50 index and currently commands a market capitalisation of more than Rs 1.28 lakh crore ($14 billion).
