Srinagar, Aug 8: A large number of social and political activists and workers joined the Apni Party at a function held at its headquarters in Srinagar on Saturday.
Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and other senior leaders welcomed the new entrants and assured them of opportunities to work for the people in their respective areas.
Apni Party General Secretary Rafi Ahmed Mir said the participation of young people from Srinagar would strengthen the party’s presence in the city and bring new energy to its grassroots activities.
Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir said the party would work to address the challenges faced by youth, particularly unemployment and limited opportunities for their participation in public life.
“Our youth are facing a number of serious challenges, and unfortunately, the traditional political parties have failed to adequately address their concerns,” he said.
District President Srinagar Zaffer Habib said the party was committed to protecting people’s rights and creating better opportunities for the youth.
Senior leader Syed Mohammad Akhoon, who previously served in the National Conference, also welcomed the new members and claimed that workers had limited scope to express their views in traditional political parties.
He said the Apni Party offered a different political culture where leaders and workers were encouraged to express their views and contribute to public welfare.
Akhoon said the party, under Altaf Bukhari’s leadership, was committed to providing a platform for people to participate in public service.
