Origin Story
Aora was born out of a simple but uncomfortable realization: “Clean” beauty wasn’t actually clean. After more than a decade at L’Oréal, Co-founder Nour Tayara saw firsthand how much innovation went into formulas while packaging, much of it plastic and unrecyclable, remained largely overlooked. The disconnect became impossible to ignore. In 2022, Tayara left corporate beauty to build Aora, a Mexico-born 100% plastic-free color cosmetics brand designed to challenge the industry’s dependence on plastic without compromising performance or aesthetics. From the beginning, Aora took a packaging-first approach, developing products using materials like aluminum and tin to create fully recyclable, plastic-free designs.
Equally important was redefining what sustainable beauty could look like. Inspired by Mexico’s bold, expressive culture, Aora set out to prove that sustainability doesn’t have to be minimal or muted. Its products are vibrant, tactile and designed to be seen, used and kept. Since launching, the brand has gained a devoted following and cultural momentum, culminating in its U.S. retail debut with Credo Beauty. For Tayara, Aora is about more than products — it’s about setting a new standard for how beauty is created, experienced and ultimately, disposed of.
