Patna: State health minister Nishant Kumar on Thursday reviewed the master plan for redevelopment and expansion of Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH), Gaya, and said the institution would be upgraded into a modern super-specialty hospital to cater to the healthcare needs of the entire Magadh region.Health department secretary Kumar Ravi was present at the review meeting, where officials discussed plans for strengthening infrastructure, expanding advanced medical services, enhancing medical education and modernising facilities.The minister directed officials and executing agencies to ensure quality construction, transparency and timely completion of the project. He also asked them to prepare the master plan keeping in mind the rising patient load and adoption of modern medical technologies.“The reconstruction and modernisation of ANMMCH will give a new direction to healthcare in the region. Construction work should be completed within the stipulated timeframe without affecting ongoing patient care,” Nishant said.Under the master plan, the Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSICL) will oversee the construction of modern student hostels and a mortuary complex, renovation of existing hostels and strengthening of the hospital’s power supply infrastructure.The minister also reviewed the hospital’s clinical performance. In June 2026, ANMMCH treated 36,155 OPD patients, admitted 2,965 patients and handled 1,166 emergency cases. It also performed 460 major and 2,693 minor surgeries during the month.Officials said the upgraded facility would improve access to specialised healthcare in the Magadh region and reduce dependence on hospitals in Patna and other cities for advanced treatment.Nishant directed officials to conduct regular monitoring and periodic reviews of the project, describing it as a key step towards improving healthcare infrastructure in the region.
