Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Wednesday said the Centre has approved Rs 2,447.9 crore for implementation of National Health Mission (NHM) programmes in the state for 2026-27, with the Centre’s share at Rs 1,468.7 crore and the State’s share at Rs 979.1 crore.
The Centre has directed the state to implement the programmes according to priority using the available funds, the minister said in a release.
The highest allocation of Rs 1,008.5 crore has been made for human resources and staff salaries under NHM, with the Centre reimbursing part of the salary expenditure of staff working under the Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department.
Another Rs 411.1 crore has been allocated as grants-in-kind for medicines, vaccines and reagents required for routine immunisation against viral hepatitis, malaria, dengue and tuberculosis control programmes.
Officials said Rs 116.5 crore was allocated for TB control, disease detection and treatment, Rs 114.5 crore for free diagnostics, Rs 97.6 crore for routine immunisation, Rs 94.2 crore for Health and Wellness Centres and Rs 92.9 crore for 108 ambulance services.
Further, Rs 88.6 crore was allocated for Janani Shishu Suraksha, Rs 79.8 crore for National Urban Health Mission, Rs 77.5 crore for Anaemia Mukt Bharat, Rs 77.5 crore for free medicines, Rs 72.2 crore for community engagement, Rs 70.6 crore for Facility Based Newborn Care and Rs 69.9 crore for medical equipment maintenance.
Similarly, Rs 68.2 crore was allocated for cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and stroke control, Rs 67.7 crore for free dialysis, Rs 62.6 crore for blindness control, Rs 51.8 crore for vector-borne diseases, Rs 39.8 crore for Quality Assurance, Rs 35.1 crore for Hospital Development Society funds, Rs 32.9 crore for Jan Arogya Samitis and Rs 31.7 crore for Janani Suraksha Yojana.
Five new NHM programmes received Rs 75.5 crore, including Rs 26.6 crore for ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) medicines for heart attack emergencies, Rs 25.8 crore for care coordination and tele-consultation rooms, Rs 11 crore for desktop computers for tele-consultations, Rs 7.2 crore for emergency trauma care equipment and Rs 4.7 crore for burn-unit equipment.
Further allocations were made for tribal healthcare, blood services, leprosy and viral hepatitis control, and mobile medical units to improve access to healthcare in remote areas. The minister said these allocations would help expand emergency healthcare and tele-consultation services.
Of the Rs 2,447.9-crore Resource Envelope, Rs 411.1 crore is grants-in-kind, and Rs 120.7 crore is Infrastructure Maintenance, leaving Rs 1,916.1 crore in net cash availability. As the value of Centre-approved activities exceeds the Resource Envelope, priority will have to be given to essential programmes. So far, Rs 1,175 crore, combining Centre and State shares, has been released.
Yadav said the funds would be utilised for direct public benefit; emergency healthcare and tele-consultation would be strengthened, and steps would be taken to ensure medicines, vaccines and medical equipment required by the public are available.
