Patna: Students of AN College, along with volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS), participated in the state-level 5-kilometre Marathon and Walkathon, ‘Red Run 2026’, organised by the Bihar State AIDS Control Society (BSACS) under the health department. The event focused on spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS, encouraging healthy living, and promoting the elimination of social stigma associated with the disease.A total of 46 students and NSS volunteers from the college took part in the event under the leadership of NSS Programme Officer Amrita Chakravarty. The marathon and walkathon began at the Pataliputra Sports Complex in Kankarbagh and proceeded through Medanta Hospital, Gayatri Mandir and other designated routes, before concluding at the starting point.Students from educational institutions across Bihar participated to promote messages of HIV/AIDS awareness, social inclusion and healthy living. Anand Kumar Jaiswal represented AN College at the state-level event after securing second position in the Patna district-level Red Run 2026 competition.The district-level Red Run 2026 was organised across all districts of Bihar. At the state-level programme, six districts with participation from more than ten educational institutions each were recognised for outstanding organisation and coordination.Patna district was also honoured for its performance. Chakravarty, the Red Run Nodal Officer for Patna district, received the Best District (Patna) Award for her role in coordinating the district-level event and ensuring remarkable participation.Inter-school football tournament heldSt Michael’s High School (SMHS) Team ‘A’ won the 16th St Ignatius of Loyola Inter-School Football Tournament 2026, while the host school’s Team ‘B’ finished runners-up, as the three-day championship concluded at the SMHS premises.The tournament featured 17 schools from across Bihar. The final was an all-SMHS contest between Team ‘A’ and Team ‘B’, with Team ‘A’ securing the Under-19 boys’ senior category title. The event also marked more than 500 years of the legacy of St Ignatius of Loyola.The closing ceremony was attended by chief guest Fr Ignatius Abraham SJ, scholar, musician and educator. He was welcomed by the school band and felicitated by the school management. Principal Fr A Christu Savarirajan SJ congratulated the players for their commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship, and emphasised that fair play is the foundation of sport.Individual honours were presented to Yameen Ahmad (SMHS) as Best Player of the Tournament and Shashwat as Best Scorer. Shivam Raj and Harshvardhan received the Best Emerging Player awards. Aabel Susan Joe and Chaitanya Kabir shared the Best Goalkeeper award. Abhijeet was named Best Defender, and Sandeep Pratap won Best Playmaker. Loyola High School received the Fair Play Team trophy. Yameen Ahmad and Naitik were jointly named Players of the Final Match.Investiture ceremony held at Sainik School NalandaCadet Ritu Raj was appointed as the school cadet captain during the investiture ceremony held at Sainik School Nalanda for the academic session 2026–27. The two-day ceremony, organised on July 29 and 30, also saw cadet Shivraj take charge as school adjutant, cadet Aryan Kumar as academic captain, cadet Salim Ali as sports captain and cadet Sanaya as girl cadet captain.The ceremony commenced in the Mauryan Sabhagar, where principal Colonel Bhupender Kumar, vice principal Lt Colonel Meghna Singh, administrative officer Lt Colonel Sapdhare Harsh Madhukar and house masters conferred rank badges and epaulettes on the newly appointed cadets.The newly appointed student leaders took an oath to uphold the traditions and values of the school. Addressing the gathering, the principal urged the cadets to lead with integrity, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility. He highlighted the importance of investiture ceremonies in military institutions and said the prefect system plays a vital role in nurturing leadership, self-discipline and camaraderie among cadets. Officiating senior master Mamta Rani, staff members and cadets were present on the occasion.
