Amravati: Ace archer Madhura Dhamangaonkar has once again dazzled for India, guiding the women’s compound archery team into the finals of Puebla 2026 Archery World Cup stage 1, now in progress in Mexico.The top seeded Indian compound women’s team outclassed Turkiye 233-230 to assure India a medal in this event.Teaming up with Pragati, who shot 694 in qualification, and Jyothi Surekha Vennam, who shot 691 in qualification, Madhura, a triple medalist in Shanghai World Cup stage 2 last year, steered India convincingly into the team finals where it will meet the USA on April 11. On the other hand, the USA, comprising Paige Pearce, Alexis Ruiz and Olivia Dean, denied hosts Mexico home final with a 230-229 victory in the semis. Mexico, however, won the bronze medal, beating Turkiye 233-230.Madhura not only dazzled for the team but also beat Grace Chappel of UK 143-141 in the first individual round where Pragati and Jyothi Vennam got a bye while Aditi Swami beat last year’s world championship silver medalist Sofia Paiz of El Salvador 146-138 to advance into the second round.Indian men’s compound team, comprising Ojas Deotale, Abhishek Verma and Sahil Jadhav, despite being top seeded, lost to the 9th seeded hosts Mexico 232-234 in the quarter finals.
