New Delhi: West Bengal is one of the top priority states on the BJP’s electoral agenda and Union home minister Amit Shah, who is driving the party campaign, is devoting maximum time in the state. As elections draw closer, Shah is involved in the party’s campaign strategy right till the booth level. Sources told ET that Shah has planned to spend a night each in five divisions of the state apart from addressing meetings.

BJP has divided West Bengal into five organisational divisions — Kharagpur, Durgapur, Siliguri, Balurghat and Hooghly. Shah has already completed night meetings in Kharagpur and Durgapur divisions

The format of the meetings is same. Shah invites the BJP district core committee members from all the districts in the division and takes feedback of the party campaign. He tries to resolve issues raised by the workers firsthand, and then assigns them work for the coming week. He regularly reports about the party leaders and workers involved in the campaign. These meetings are planned in the night since Shah addresses public meetings during the day.
