Ahmedabad: As a preventive measure after the Delhi PG building collapse, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday launched a special structural safety inspection drive covering PG facilities, hostels and student dormitories. Teams inspected 55 buildings across five zones. The inspection aimed to determine whether any of the structures was prima facie in a dangerous condition. None of the 55 inspected were found to be in a visibly hazardous state. The AMC teams issued guidelines and instructions to facility operators on precautionary measures. They were also directed to undertake regular structural maintenance and adhere to safety standards. An AMC official stated, “This drive will continue. The primary objective is to proactively check the structural integrity of these buildings and ensure a safe living environment for residents.”
