Kanpur: Tension prevailed in Madaripur village in Jalaun district on Wednesday night after a statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was found damaged, allegedly by unidentified miscreants.Village head representative Bharat Singh reached the spot after learning about the incident and informed Kuthaund police.Sub-divisional magistrate Rakesh Soni and circle officer Ajay Singh later visited the site and gathered details. Officials said the elbow of the statue’s right hand had been damaged and that the administration was making arrangements to install a new statue.Police said footage from nearby CCTV cameras was being examined to identify those responsible for the damage.Meanwhile, security personnel have been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure, and officials have urged residents to maintain peace.
