Shillong: Ri Bhoi administration issued alternate routes on August 21 amid the blockade of the Byrnihat-Jorabat road.Travellers from Shillong, Nongpoh and Byrnihat heading to Guwahati airport or railway stations can use Byrnihat–Pillingkata–Killing or Nongpoh–Patharkhmah–Rani.Those travelling from Guwahati to Shillong can take Basistha–Pillingkata–Killing or Rani–Patharkhmah–Mairang.The administration urged commuters in Assam and Meghalaya to avoid the Jorabat–Byrnihat road until further notice and use the designated routes. Passengers travelling for medical purposes, to airports, railway stations or other essential destinations were advised to plan accordingly.The advisory was issued by Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Abhishek Saini.
