Navi Mumbai: Three alert fishermen rescued a 25-year-old Chembur resident who jumped off a moving train into the Vashi creek on Tuesday. After being brought to the shore, she told them she was distressed as her boyfriend had cut contact with her without any explanation. She was taken to a civic-run hospital for first aid treatment, was counselled at Vashi police station, and her custody was then handed over to her mother.Shashikant Chandekar, senior Vashi police inspector, said the fishermen —Mahesh Sutar, Roshan Bhoir and Ajay Bhoir—saw the woman jumping into the creek, and along with constables Prakash Naikwadi and Bhausaheb Holgir, who were on coastal patrol duty, rescued her. “She had jumped with a backpack, which kept her afloat till the rescuers arrived and pulled her out.” —George Mendonca Need help?
