While speaking to party leaders on Saturday, Yadav said leaders should be careful in their speech.
“Elections are near. We just have to finalise tickets. No leader should make any statement which BJP can take advantage of. We will issue detailed instructions on what to speak and what not,” Yadav said.
The comment is significant as Yadav is trying to forge a strong caste coalition in his favour.
Last week, he addressed a meeting of influential people from the Brahmin community, where he said that “PD” in his PDA formula, among other things, stands for Pandit.
In May this year, a statement by SP spokesperson Rajkumar Bhati went viral on social media, in which he made some controversial remarks about Brahmins. Bhati later apologised for his comments.
Yadav understands the importance of caste groups. Some people in Uttarakhand purified the stage used by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. Kharge raised the issue as humiliation because he comes from the SC community. Yadav was quick to react, saying that the PDA society is no longer in the mood to tolerate its humiliation.
SP leaders claim that the consolidation of PDA (Pichda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) helped the SP win the maximum number of seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Now the party wants to add new caste groups to make a formidable combination ahead of the assembly polls.
