Prayagraj: Mumbai is set to return to Prayagraj airport’s daily flight network from Oct 1, bringing major relief to passengers travelling between the Sangam City and the country’s financial capital. Akasa Air will resume its Mumbai-Prayagraj service seven days a week after operating the flight only once a week, on Mondays, for the past several months.The airline had earlier reduced the frequency of the daily service amid rising aviation turbine fuel prices. The scaling down of operations visibly affected air traffic at Prayagraj airport, with the number of flights and passengers declining considerably.Online booking for the daily Mumbai service has already begun on the Akasa Air website as well as other private travel booking platforms. The flight from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Prayagraj will take off at 12.55 pm and land at 3.15 pm. The fare for Tuesday’s flight was just over Rs 6,000. On the return journey, the aircraft will depart Prayagraj at 4 pm and reach Mumbai at 6.20 pm, with Tuesday’s fare listed at Rs 5,992.The resumption is particularly significant as Saturday is presently the only day of the week when Prayagraj airport has no scheduled flight to or from any city. With Akasa restarting its Mumbai service on all seven days, flight operations will resume at the airport on Saturdays as well.The reduction in Mumbai flights had also affected passenger movement at the airport. In Aug 2026, only 184 aircraft movements were recorded at Prayagraj airport, while the total number of arriving and departing passengers stood at 26,776.The restoration of the seven-day service is expected to improve connectivity for business travellers, students and passengers with onward international connections from Mumbai. It will also increase overall aircraft movement and passenger footfall at Prayagraj airport.
