Ajmer: When 75-year-old Chukka Devi locked her house on Pratap Pura Road in Pisangan last month, she was counting on its safety in her absence on a tenant she’d recently rented out a room to. As she left for Ahmedabad to visit relatives, she had no idea of the nasty surprise that would be awaiting her when she got back.A scene of utter chaos greeted her upon her return on April 19. The house had apparently been broken into, her belongings were scattered everywhere, and jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh was missing. News of the high-value burglary quickly became the talk of the small town.When police arrived on scene, they quickly sensed this was no ordinary burglary. Something appeared deliberate, almost staged, about the way Chukka Devi’s belongings had been strewn around.
