Ajmer: The city remained inundated for the third consecutive day on Sunday, with areas including Bhrampuri, TB Hospital Road, and several other colonies experiencing flooding as the district administration flushed excess water from Ana Sagar Lake. Officials inspected the situation in surrounding colonies on Sunday and said the situation was being brought under control. However, residents began reporting reptiles and snakes entering their homes.District Collector Lokbandhu and SP Vandita Rana visited rescue centres and oversaw the distribution of food packets. The administration reported that water levels in Ana Sagar and Varuna Sagar lakes were decreasing, and municipal authorities were directed to conduct fogging and provide medical kits to affected individuals.Youth Congress staged protests against the Ajmer Municipal Corporation in various locations. “They claimed that they cleaned the drainage before the monsoon, but recent rains proved them wrong,” said Mohit Malhotra, District President, Youth Congress.He added that despite claims of Ajmer being a smart city, half of the city remained flooded even after the rains ceased.Meanwhile, areas including Bhrampuri Van Vihar, Shiv Vihar, Gulmohar Colony, and parts of Subash Nagar and Gaddi Maliyan continued to be flooded, causing sewage water to enter residents’ tanks and leading to power outages. Incidents of snakes entering houses along with water were reported. “The water from the nallah has filled our house,” said Atul Sharma of Bhrampuri.“There has been no electricity since last night, and sewage water fills our house,” added Naresh Sharma, another resident of Bhrampuri.In Sagar Vihar near Anasagar, residents lived in fear of snakes. “We have asked our children not to step out from beds as there is water and snakes in the water,” said Kundan Rathore of Sagar Vihar. “From the day the pathway wall was constructed, water has been coming into our colony, and we have suffered a lot of damage,” said Babita Choudhary of Gulmohar Colony.
