Maharashtra Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar

Pune: Deputy chief minister Sunetra Pawar on Thursday urged people not to politicise the death of her husband, former NCP chief Ajit Pawar.During a media interaction in Pune, Sunetra said, “Who would feel more grief over losing Ajit Dada than his mother, myself, and our sons? I feel it is becoming a media trial when the issue of Ajit Pawar’s death is spoken about so frequently.”Her statement came a day after NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule criticised NCP MLAs for remaining silent about the filing of an FIR over the plane crash that claimed the life of her cousin, the former deputy CM, on Jan 28.Supriya on Wednesday said 40-odd MLAs, including ministers, are not making any effort to register an FIR. After the tragedy, Ajit Pawar’s nephew and NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar had also demanded an FIR in connection with the crash. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis responded to the opposition’s allegations in the assembly, stating that investigations by national and state agencies are currently underway.Sunetra said, “The chief minister has given his word in the assembly and is doing his best to ensure justice for Ajit Dada. We have also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah to request a thorough probe.”She added that no one should think that they feel nothing about the loss of Ajit Dada. “We also want the investigation to conclude at the earliest, but I have full faith in the agencies. The investigating authorities should be given adequate time to probe the incident thoroughly,” she said.
