Ahmedabad: Air India will shift all its domestic flight operations from Terminal 1 (T1) to Terminal 2 (T2) at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) starting March 29, consolidating its entire operations at a single terminal. The move will cover 210 weekly domestic flights to and from Ahmedabad. The airline’s international services already operate out of Terminal 2, and from the effective date, all arrivals and departures of domestic flights will be handled exclusively from the new facility. The shift comes ahead of the summer travel season and is aimed at streamlining passenger movement while improving the overall airport experience. Terminal 2, spread across about 49,000 sq m, offers expanded infrastructure including 52 check-in counters, self-baggage drop facilities and DigiYatra kiosks, along with enhanced immigration capacity and retail options.SVPIA airport sources told TOI that operations of other airlines too may be shifted to T2 in order to optimally use the new integrated terminal during the day. Being an international terminal, a majority of the departures and arrivals are during the night at T2.Air India said it has begun notifying passengers via SMS and email about the change and has advised travellers to verify terminal details before departure to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
