NEW DELHI: An Air India flight from New Delhi to Kathmandu was diverted back to Delhi after reporting a “technical issue”, an official at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport told news agency ANI.The flight had approached Nepali airspace when it was turned back to Delhi following the reported technical problem.“The aircraft was about to enter Nepali airspace, but it got diverted from the airspace above Lucknow after reporting technical issues. The details are yet to be confirmed and briefed,” the official said.The diverted Air India flight, operating as AI219, is a passenger aircraft, though details of those on board were not immediately available. The A320-214 aircraft departed New Delhi at 2:42 pm IST for Kathmandu and was scheduled to arrive in the Nepali capital at 4:30 pm NPT.Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport has not issued an official statement on the diversion.
