Gorakhpur: Police have arrested the third accused in the alleged molestation and racial harassment case involving a woman doctor from AIIMS Gorakhpur. The accused, identified as Aditya Rao, a resident of Rampur Khas village in Deoria district, was taken into custody on Tuesday. On Feb 23, police had arrested two accused — Suraj Gupta and Amrit Vishwakarma — and sent them to jail. All three are residents of Deoria district.According to police, the incident took place on the night of Feb 22, when the woman doctor, a native of Nagaland, was returning from a mall to AIIMS with another doctor on separate scooters. The three accused, who were on a motorcycle, allegedly passed racial remarks at her. When the woman objected, the trio allegedly chased her for nearly 1.5 km up to AIIMS Gate-2 . Near the gate, one of the accused reportedly removed his shirt, touched her inappropriately and issued death threats.Based on the complaint filed by the doctor, the AIIMS police station registered an FIR on Tuesday. CO Cantt Yogendra Singh said all three accused have now been arrested and sent to jail.
