Bhopal: Early Intervention Centre at AIIMS Bhopal has introduced group therapy and sensory development-based interventions to support children with autism. The initiative was highlighted during World Autism Awareness Day 2026, according to a press release here on Saturday. The programme focused on early identification and timely intervention for children with autism. AIIMS Bhopal runs a Neurodevelopment Clinic every Friday, offering multidisciplinary treatment for autism.AIIMS Bhopal department of pediatrics organised the event. Students took part in slogan writing, quizzes, and pamphlet-making competitions, while experts delivered talks on autism symptoms, red flag signs and treatment approaches. Parents attending the Pediatric OPD were counselled, their concerns addressed, and encouraged to spread awareness in the community.Senior faculty members highlighted the importance of preventive measures beginning in the antenatal period, responsive parenting, and coordinated efforts across medical departments.Paediatrics Hod Dr Shikha Malik cautioned against excessive screen exposure and stressed on early identification and guidance.
