Chennai: AIADMK on Wednesday demanded Tamil Nadu govt to release a white paper on chief minister C Joseph Vijay’s visit to London to attract investments, saying details of the investments and employment opportunities should be made public.“The govt should publish a white paper giving the breakdown of the ₹15,000-crore investment attracted during the London visit. It should detail the number of MoUs signed, when they are expected to materialise, and the direct and indirect employment they are likely to generate,” former AIADMK minister D Jayakumar told reporters in Chennai.The demand followed severe criticism from several political parties over Vijay’s overseas visit. The visit initially drew flak because Vijay had no engagements with foreign companies during the first two days, when he flagged off a car race featuring actor Ajith Kumar.Critics later said that companies that signed MoUs were headquartered in India, and there was no need to sign the agreements in London. Controversy also arose after a large number of Vijay’s fans gathered outside his hotel, prompting London police to warn them to disperse.“The TVK govt should be transparent about the visit,’’ Jayakumar said. He also criticised the TVK govt’s style of functioning, describing it as “Tuglak darbar”. “Sports minister going to London instead of the Industries minister to attract investments, finance minister inspecting forest areas, and HR&CE minister answering questions on power outages resembles a Tuglak darbar,” he said.
