“Drug sales are happening everywhere. People are asking for a drug-free Tamil Nadu. Even after bringing this to the chief minister’s attention multiple times, no action was taken. If the AIADMK comes to power, ganja and drugs will be completely eradicated within three months,” he said.

Palaniswami recalled that when AIADMK was in power, the movement of drug was under control. “Because drugs are being sold with the support of DMK functionaries, the police are unable to take action.” he alleged.

The Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly strongly rebutted DMK President M K Stalin’s comments that he turned into a “Sanghi” (a follower of the RSS) following AIADMK leading the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu.

Taking potshots on the DMK-Congress alliance, Palaniswami while seeking votes for party candidates in Sivaganga on Wednesday for the April 23 polls, displayed a photo of the late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi with the late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from the time when DMK was in an alliance with the BJP.

“Do you admit that your father Karunanidhi was a Sanghi too? Who was with Karunanidhi. He was with the late Vajpayee,” he said, showcasing the photograph.

Continuing his attack on Stalin, Palaniswami said, “during the DMK regime as many as 18,000 kids were victims of sexual abuse and more than 6,000 Pocso cases have been filed. So many young girls have been affected. In the DMK administration, there is no safety from a small girl to an old woman.”

On the signing of 1,179 memorandum of understandings during the Global Investors Meet 2024 which attracted over 15 lakh crore investments during the DMK regime, Palaniswami said, “they (DMK) claim that 77 per cent of agreements were fulfilled and claim that 36 lakh people got new jobs”.

“For a project to get implemented, land must be acquired, financial resources are needed and permissions must be obtained and buildings must be constructed before a factory becomes operational. It will take 3 to 4 years. But he (Stalin) announced last year (2025) that 77 per cent of the projects (signed during Global Investors Meet in 2024) have come into use. This is all lie,” he said.
