Amritsar: An AI-generated video allegedly depicting sacrilegious scenes at the Golden Temple triggered widespread anger among Sikh’s , even as the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) ordered a formal inquiry. The controversial video shows a skeleton wearing a turban and walking along the sacred parikrama of the shrine — shockingly with shoes on, a clear violation of maryada (Sikh code of religious conduct). The visuals further depict the figure entering the langar hall and consuming food while still wearing footwear, compounding the perceived insult to Sikh traditions and maryada. As the video circulated on social media, it drew sharp condemnation from various quarters. While expressing deep concern over the growing trend of using technology to create videos that hurt the sanctity of the Golden Temple and offend the religious sentiments of the Sikhs, the SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami directed action against the accounts and persons responsible.He said that the misuse of artificial intelligence caused deep hurt to the religious sentiments of Sikhs. He called upon authorities to ensure strict action against the culprits so that no one dared to indulge in such acts. The SGPC president also appealed to the Sikh community not to share any such videos that hurt religious sentiments.
