Guwahati: Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia on Saturday alleged that the protest at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi by Youth Congress members was a conspiracy conceived at the residences of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He said Assam PCC president Gaurav Gogoi may also have been present when the conspiracy was allegedly conceived.Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Assam Pradesh and Asom Yuva Parishad, the youth wing of AGP, marched towards the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters, Rajiv Bhavan, on Saturday to protest against the “shameful and anti-India act of Congress” at the Global AI Summit. The protest was organised to condemn the actions at the international platform, which the protesters said hurt the image of the nation.
A huge number of security personnel was deployed to prevent the protesters from entering the Congress office. Later, an FIR was lodged at Bhangagarh Police Station over an alleged attack carried out in front of Rajiv Bhavan on some members of the Pradesh Youth Congress and Congress leader Ratul Kalita during the protest. Kalita, who was reportedly assaulted during the incident, lodged two separate FIRs at Bhangagarh PS. Congress also accused a section of unruly BJYM workers, under the guise of protest, of allegedly targeting Congress workers and tearing down banners and posters. While addressing the media at the party’s state headquarters, Saikia levelled grave allegations against Congress for staging a protest at the AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi, thereby allegedly diminishing the dignity and self-respect of India.“The protest at the AI Summit was premeditated and not a spontaneous act,” Saikia said. He asserted that while delegates from 100 nations, including heads of state from 40 countries and ministers from 60 countries, along with leading AI industry executives, engaged in constructive dialogue, the Congress leadership allegedly conspired to embarrass India globally.“Under Rahul Gandhi’s direction, Youth Congress members executed actions that brought shame to India before the world and trampled upon the aspirations of the nation’s youth,” he said.Saikia further denounced Congress for opposing the aspirations and creativity of the younger generation and for allegedly standing against India’s scientific and technological progress.Meanwhile, Assam PCC media department chairperson Bedabrat Bora said the failure of the police to restrain the hooligans who came to attack the Rajiv Bhavan, while allegedly acting against Congress workers instead, raised serious questions about the impartiality of the police.
