Ahmedabad: A 43-year-old woman has filed a complaint against her husband, alleging that he subjected her to physical and mental cruelty for years and attempted to force physical relations on her against her will.According to an FIR registered with Chandkheda police on Saturday, the woman married the accused through a court marriage in 2012. The couple has two daughters. She stated that their marriage was initially cordial, but relations deteriorated after she discovered WhatsApp chats between her husband and another woman in 2022.The complainant alleged that when she confronted her husband about the messages, he claimed the woman was a colleague. She further alleged that in July 2024, she found them together near a garden in KK Shastri Nagar, following which a complaint was lodged with Ghatlodia police. The matter was later resolved after the husband allegedly assured family members that such incidents would not be repeated.However, the woman claimed that the relationship continued and that her husband travelled to Mumbai with the other woman in Feb this year. She alleged that when she informed her mother-in-law, she was told to tolerate the situation if she wished to continue living with her husband.The FIR states that in March this year, after she questioned her husband about the alleged affair, he assaulted her, slapped her repeatedly, pushed her onto a bed and attempted to establish physical relations against her will. She alleged that she resisted and was threatened by him.The woman further alleged that following another dispute in May, her mother-in-law pushed her out of the house. She subsequently shifted to a rented accommodation along with her two daughters.Based on the complaint, Chandkheda police have registered a case against the husband and his mother for cruelty, assault, criminal intimidation and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
