Ahmedabad: A 28-year-old mobile accessories trader allegedly died by suicide at his rented home in Sarkhej after uploading a WhatsApp status naming a father-son duo over a business dispute. Sarkhej police have booked both men for abetment to suicide.According to the complaint filed by the victim’s brother, the trader entered a partnership with the son in Oct 2025 to run a mobile money-transfer outlet near Ujala Circle. Once the business turned profitable, the duo allegedly barred him from the shop, denied him his profit share, and demanded he pay all setup expenses.They repeatedly kept harassing him, seeking money, said the victim’s brother.A couple of days before the incident, the father allegedly threatened to remove the family’s roadside stall during a heated argument over unpaid demands. The trader left his family’s stall on Aug 2 and failed to return. The next morning, the family broke open the lock of his rented house only to find him hanging from a ceiling fan.Family members discovered a 4.18am WhatsApp status containing photos of the accused, linking his death to ongoing harassment. Police are investigating call logs, messages, and financial records.
