Hyderabad: The Teachers’ Unions’ Struggle Committee (TUSPC) on Tuesday announced a phased statewide agitation beginning Aug 7, alleging that the state govt was neglecting issues concerning teachers and the education sector.The committee demanded that transfers and promotions be completed by Aug 15 and sought amendments to GO 25. It also called for the appointment of at least two teachers in every primary school and one teacher for each class in schools with 50 or more students. Other demands included filling vacant posts of DEOs, deputy EOs, MEOs and supervisory staff, granting service weightage in TET, conducting a special TET, scrapping the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and implementing the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for eligible teachers.The committee also sought the merger of model and aided schools with the education department, minimum wages for contract staff, implementation of GOs 190 and 317, release of five pending DA instalments, implementation of the PRC, clearance of pending bills at the rate of ₹2,000 crore per month, and full implementation of the health card scheme.As part of the agitation, teachers will stage school-level protests wearing black badges on Aug 7, submit memoranda at mandal headquarters on Aug 12 and 13, and organise district-level dharnas on Aug 19. State and district tours will be held from Aug 21 to 26, followed by a mega dharna at Indira Park on Aug 29. If the govt fails to address their demands, the committee will launch a ‘Chalo Assembly’ protest during the Sept assembly session.
