Ahmedabad: Under the Centre’s PM E-DRIVE Scheme, a joint tender process was undertaken by the Union ministry of heavy industries (MHI) and Convergence Energy Services Ltd, in which a total of 1,000 buses were allocated to the city of Ahmedabad. In this regard, the board of directors of Ahmedabad Janmarg Ltd, in a meeting held on March 5, approved the issuance of a work order to procure a total of 1,000 electric AC buses collectively for AMTS and BRTS under a gross cost contract-based agreement.Continuous efforts are being made by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and its managed organisations, AMTS and BRTS, to promote green mobility while providing environmentally friendly, modern, and sustainable public transport facilities in the city of Ahmedabad.Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited is currently providing public transport services in the city through a total of 350 buses, of which 200 electric buses are operational. In the coming time, another 250 new electric buses are set to be launched, and planning was undertaken to completely convert the BRTS bus fleet in Ahmedabad city to electric.
