Ahmedabad: Khadia police on Thursday registered a case against a jewellery store employee for allegedly stealing 280 grams of gold, valued at around Rs 40 lakh, from a shop in Manek Chowk.According to the complaint filed by shop owner Mukeshi Soni, 32, the accused had been working at the store for the past 18 months. He handled accounts and inventory, the complaint states.The accused did not report to work on May 29 and had been unreachable since as his mobile was switched off.Soni then conducted a stock verification with another employee and found that 280 grams of fine gold was missing. The complaint alleged the gold was siphoned off between Dec 2025 and May.
