Ahmedabad: Two separate disputes in the city, one over excavation work at a housing society in Thaltej and another linked to remarks about a young woman’s relationship in Navrangpura, escalated into threats and assault, police said.In the Thaltej case, the chairman of a housing society told police that residents were holding a meeting around 7pm on Saturday to discuss Navratri celebrations when a security guard informed them that a JCB was carrying out excavation work on a public road behind a bungalow.The chairman, along with society members and the society manager, went to the spot and asked the JCB operator to show permission for the work. The operator allegedly failed to produce any documents and left the site with the machine. The complainant alleged that a society member then abused him and turned aggressive when asked to stop. He allegedly attempted to assault the chairman and others before issuing threats.Several society members present at the spot were named as witnesses in the complaint lodged with Bodakdev police.In the second incident, a 57-year-old Navrangpura resident alleged that he was attacked with a stick at his home around 2am on Friday after being confronted over remarks he had made about a young woman’s relationship.According to the complaint filed with Navrangpura police on Sunday, the man had earlier informed the woman’s mother after seeing her with a young man. The FIR states that the young man and another unidentified person later came to his residence and assaulted him.
