Ahmedabad: The city experienced a partly cloudy sky on Friday under the influence of the Western Disturbance, with a trough and an upper-air cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan. However, the mercury touched 40.9 degrees celsius, 1.3 degrees above normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the maximum temperature on Saturday is likely to be around 41 degrees celsius. At 26.4 degrees, the minimum temperature in the city was 2.1 degrees above normal.The forecast for the state indicated no significant change in maximum temperatures over the next seven days. The maximum temperatures are very likely to be above 40 degrees over isolated pockets in the state for the next three days. Weather changes are likely from April 19, with light to moderate rain at isolated places in north and central Gujarat and some parts of Saurashtra. At 41.2 degrees celsius, Surendranagar recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state on Friday, followed by 40.9 degrees celsius in Ahmedabad and Rajkot each, 40.5 degrees celsius in Gandhinagar and VV Nagar, and 40.3 degrees celsius in Amreli, among others.
