Police have planned decibel checks for elephants in the procession

Ahmedabad: Ahead of the Jagannath Rath Yatra, city police have appealed to citizens to keep a close watch on their children, place identification slips listing their names and contact numbers in their pockets, and refrain from spreading or sharing unverified information on social media.The advisory was issued through a video featuring police commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut and other senior officers, who urged citizens to cooperate with police to ensure the procession was conducted peacefully.Gahlaut said ensuring the safety of citizens is police’s top responsibility and appealed to people to support security arrangements by following the guidelines issued for the event.Police said thousands of people, including children and senior citizens, are expected to gather along the procession route. Citizens were advised to hold their children’s hands in crowded areas and ensure that their elderly family members were not left unattended. Officers advised citizens to place an identification slip with the child’s name and contact number in the child’s pocket so officers can reunite separated children with their families.The advisory also urged people to rely only on verified information from official sources.DCP Rupal Solanki who is overseeing security around the temple, said anyone attempting to disturb peace would face strict legal action. She added that the procession would be monitored through drones and CCTV cameras, and urged citizens to report any suspicious person or unattended object to the first policeman they spot or by dialling 112.
