Ahmedabad: A Kubernagar resident has allegedly been threatened with ‘dire consequences’ by his in-laws living in Nagpur, and has been told that his wife will no longer be living with him. The threats allegedly came soon after the birth of his daughter earlier this year. In the complaint filed with Meghaninagar police on Wednesday, the 32-year-old man alleged that his wife even told him that the baby is not his.According to the complaint, the man met his wife in July 2024 through a matrimonial application. The couple tied the knot in Nagpur in Dec 2024 and his wife soon joined him in Ahmedabad. In Jan this year, the wife went to Nagpur to give birth to their child. “A family ceremony was held there on Jan 19, which I attended along with my parents and relatives,” the man told police. The baby was born on Jan 28 and the complainant again visited Nagpur to meet his wife and the newborn. “During this visit, my wife told me I was not the child’s father.”The man has also accused his mother-in-law of calling him to say, “I am not sending my daughter there. Call your brother and sister-in-law to your house and live peacefully.” She allegedly used abusive language and threatened him with dire consequences. In March, his father-in-law allegedly gave him death threats on the phone, saying, “Son-in-law, there will be killing and dying. Either you will die or I will.” The 32-year-old has sought legal action against his in-laws.
