Ahmedabad: A man was booked by Sabarmati police for allegedly harassing a 22-year-old sanitation worker and making lewd remarks at a residential complex in Tragad.According to the complaint, the woman is employed as a sanitation worker along with her elder sister at a housing complex Tragad and visits the premises every morning for work. Police said the accused had been staying as a guest at one of the flats in the society for the past several days.The complainant alleged that two days ago, while she took the elevator to go to the seventh floor, the accused entered the lift, held her hand and made inappropriate remarks about tattoos while also passing caste-related comments. The woman objected to the remarks before getting off the lift.The next morning, while she was collecting garbage near the society’s main gate, the accused allegedly stopped her and asked her to “find a girl” for him. He then allegedly made sexually explicit gestures and told her he would pay “whatever amount” she asked for. He also allegedly offered her money in exchange for sexual favours.Police said the woman objected to the behaviour, after which the accused allegedly became aggressive and abused her using caste-related slurs.The woman later informed her supervisor and society office-bearers about the incident. Residents called the cops, but the accused managed to flee.Sabarmati police have registered a case under sections related to harassment and atrocities and launched an investigation.
