Ahmedabad: The city received an average of 5mm of rainfall by 8 pm on Saturday. The primary areas with rainfall above 1mm included Viratnagar (6.5mm), Nikol (5.5mm), Odhav (5mm), and Vastral (3.5mm) among others. A majority of the western city areas experienced cloudy weather with traces of rain or light showers. The city recorded maximum and minimum temperatures of 34°C and 26.2°C, which were 1.3 degrees above normal.According to forecast, parts of Ahmedabad district are likely to experience heavy rain on Sunday. The forecast indicated chances of heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Navsari and Valsad, very heavy rain in parts of Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and heavy rain in parts of Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Botad. The rest of the districts may receive light to moderate showers.After a hiatus, several parts of the state received rainfall on Saturday — in all 112 talukas received 1mm or more of rain. Umarpada in Surat received 73mm of rain, the highest, followed by Narmada’s Tilakwada (52mm), Panchmahal’s Morva Hadaf (52mm), and Dang (49mm).Light to heavy rain, primarily concentrated on central and southern Gujarat, is likely to continue until Tuesday. This may well be the last spell of rain for the state before the withdrawal of southwest monsoon, experts said.
