Ahmedabad: The bar associations of various courts in Ahmedabad urged judges to take a lenient view of the absence of lawyers and litigants who may be unable to reach court premises due to the inclement weather.Bar associations of the city civil court, Ahmedabad criminal courts at Gheekanta, Ahmedabad district court, family courts and small causes courts passed resolutions requesting judges not to pass adverse orders if parties or advocates remained absent. They also sought adjournments in matters listed for hearing where attendance was affected by the rain.Courts dealing with motor accident claim cases were specifically requested not to proceed ex parte if any party failed to appear because of weather-related difficulties.Gujarat High Court Advocates Association (GHAA) also made a similar request to the high court.Meanwhile, an extraordinary general meeting of the GHAA, scheduled for Thursday afternoon to discuss the police lathicharge on students protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, was postponed by a day as many lawyers could not reach the court campus due to rain.
