Ahmedabad: The Commissionerate of Technical Education (CTE), Gujarat, has issued an order granting career advancement scheme (CAS) benefits to 92 faculty members of govt engineering colleges. The order provides eligible faculty with Academic Grade Pay (AGP)/Pay Level movement, enabling them to receive higher pay scales and related financial benefits according to prescribed rules.The decision follows a meeting held on Sept 23, between education minister Kuber Dindor, senior officials of the education and technical education departments, and office-bearers of the Government Engineering College Teachers’ and Officers’ Association (GECTGOA). During the meeting, the association raised several pending issues concerning faculty members, including CAS-related cases.The minister directed the authorities to expedite pending matters, following which the CAS process was accelerated. The order covers eligible faculty members serving in govt engineering colleges, govt polytechnics and other govt technical institutions.The move is expected to benefit teachers who had been awaiting career progression for a long time. Eligible faculty will now be entitled to higher pay levels and associated financial benefits in accordance with applicable rules.While welcoming the decision, the association expressed hope that pending CAS cases of remaining eligible faculty members would also be resolved at the earliest.
